Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell, an American television chef and an former Institute of Culinary Education instructor she is a popular TV host. She's the host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Her signature spiky blonde hair and pumped-up personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of eating out and offers concise easy-to-master techniques to cook at home in her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell is also a part of some of New York's top eateries, studied Italian cuisine and its traditions and has competed on Food Network's Iron Chef America. While growing up in the upper reaches of New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion for food and cooking at a young age. The Culinary Institute of America sparked her interest in restaurant management after she earned an English/Communications degree at Canisius College Buffalo NY. The student says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I was awed by every moment." It was difficult to master and do enough or put in the hours. Following graduation, Chef Burrell resided in Italy for a year, studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Additionally, she worked at La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin star restaurant) in Tuscany. While in Italy she gained a deep appreciation and understanding of Italian food and culture. It will have a significant impact on the way that Burrell prepares her food. Burrell participates on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that brightens up the lives of struggling children. She also is a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Celebrity Advocate where she raises awareness about juvenile diabetics. Burrell travels extensively across the United States in her position as a mentor as well as a guest speaker where she discusses her career and love of cooking. Anne says she was incredibly fortunate to be able to communicate her love of cooking to the people around her.
